Good Points

Only a few minutes walk from Orchard Road and although on a hill it's not too steep.


Bad Points

Musty smell on entering the hotel.


General Comments

The York Hotel is fine for a few days stay although it is showing some signs of wear and would perhaps benefit from some refurbishment. There was a peculiar musty smell on entering the hotel but having said that the rooms are more than adequate and there was no musty smell in the rooms.

Buffet breakfast in the restaurant is fine with a chef cooking eggs although opposite the restaurant in the area where early breakfasts are taken it's a little more bland and utilitarian although the food was okay. Can recommend Carriages Bar within the hotel not only for the excellent Singapore Slings but also for the Karaoke performed in English by locals with excellent singing voices!
