Easy to use, cheaper than phoning technical support and customer services.
Need an internet connection to use it, not helpful if your internet access is the problem.
I recently signed up to Demon Broadband and had some queries with regards my internet access. I contacted their helpline and the recorded message told me I could have up to a 30 minute wait, at which I thought " on an 0870 number no thanks" however it then went on to say, if you had internet access you could go to their web site and speak to an advisor via the Text to Chat service. This intrigued me as it was the first time I had come across this, usually you can go to a website and send off forms to the help department, not actually speak to someone in real time.
The procedure was quick, easy and painless, and a darned sight quicker than waiting on a phone pressing countless menus, and still getting the wrong department. You log into the chat by entering your account details and then an advisor joins you in text chat, I have used this service 3 times so far, and each time the wait was never more than a minute or so, and because you enter the nature of the problem before you enter chat, they already know who you need to speak with.
After some security questions, my problem was resolved easily, another reason I'm glad I switched from Wanadoo to Demon, but that's another review!
I have to say, I find the fact that an internet company actually utilises the internet in this way, to be novel, and just goes to show it's not all about raking the money in for "support services".
Well done Demon and you other isp's take note!
