Family hotel. Very large and clean penthouse Apartments.
Dodgy barmen and cleaners.
Stayed at the Compostela Beach Golf 3 19/08/2005 for 11 nights. After reading some of the very mixed reviews regarding this hotel I was pleasantly surprised on arrival. The Penthouse Suite had 2 floors, 2 bathrooms, a separate Kitchen and 2 balconies (1 very large). The pools were brilliant as they were all one depth of approx. 4ft which meant the kids could play games such a volley ball and I didn't have to worry about them going in too deep. The areas around the pools are slippery but they have put carpet walkways down to try to stop any accidents (which we never saw) We went self catering but did eat in the hotel a couple of times - the Mirador restaurant attached to the hotel had the best choice and value in my opinion (but avoid the barbecue night as this was a rip off) The supermarket is expensive and the nearest supermarket (Netto) is about 15 Mins walk away, or 5 Mins in a taxi as we chose to do) The beach is about 15 minutes away too but we chose to stay around the pool. The entertainment was varied and reasonable and my 2 boys really got into the bingo which is on every night at 10pm (not my cup of tea). Watch the bar staff though, they did have a tendency to forget if you had given them a 20 Euro note or a 10 Euro note! Also I noticed in the reception that there were PC's with Internet access - there are no firewalls on these PC's and I saw some children as young as 6 looking at a porn site (I obviously told their parents and the management)- so please be aware of this. The hotel is situated between Las Americas and Los Christianos and both are about 5 euros in a taxi to get to. We did have problems with the booking through Hotelbeds and were nearly kicked out of our room after 10 nights, after producing our conformation showing we had actually paid for 11 nights and contacting Wadebay - this was all sorted out eventually. If I were to stay there again I would book directly with Coral Hotel group, as their prices are much cheaper than tour operators are. This is a family hotel and not really for couples/singles and we didn't see any undesirable people there at all (only a few cockroaches) - just nice easy going folk who had come on holiday for a break. I would definitely recommend it to families with children up to ages 14.
