Rude Staff.
We had a table booked at The Outsider in Edinburgh for 6 of us, on Saturday 27th August. It was my best friends birthday, and we had a really special night planned. We arrived 5 minutes early for our booking at 9.45pm, only to be told we were being refused entry! We asked to see the Manager or the owner, and we were told we were actually speaking to him! His attitude was so rude and disrespectful. We asked if we could have a reason why we were being refused entry, as we were all sober and all fairly dressed up, as this was a very special occasion. He then said he has the right to refuse entry to anyone, and he doesn't have to give a reason. How can this happen to 6 people who are all clearly well dressed and all very sober?
My friend who's birthday it was, was understandably very upset and angry, as were the rest of the party. With this being a Saturday night, and bang in the middle of the festival, we had little hope of finding anywhere else to accommodate the party at such short notice.
I wouldn't dream of setting foot in this restaurant ever again, not even if I was paid. One of the party said, in all their years in Edinburgh, they have never ever come across such rudeness, and never have they been made to feel so small!
I would like to recommend the restaurant at Harvey Nick's! They managed to accommodate 6 of us, even though they had just stopped serving. Once we told them what had happened to us, they were most considerate and offered to get us fed ASAP! The staff also said they usually recommend the outsider to some of their customers. We were treated so well at Harvey Nick's, and the food and the drink was all very delicious, and of a very high standard.
