General Comments

I am collecting my Ford Focus 2.0 ST 170 3dr in a couple of days, and will comment further at a later date.
The reason I am buying it, is that it is replacing a 1.6 Zetec that I have been more than happy with for the last 4 years. The basic Focus handles like a dream (best in class).
The ST170 is fast, smooth, and practical. Insurance is cheaper than most other cars in the same class, and it is not too thirsty if driven "sensibly". The low down torque means you don't have to thrash it to the red line between every gear change, as much fun as that is.

3 days since I picked the Ford Focus up and I haven't stopped grinning yet.The low down torque makes it so easy to drive around town yet a squeeze of the loud pedal results in an instant reaction no matter which gear I am in.
This car is fun with a capital F ... and with very reasonable fuel consumption @ 35+mpg if driven sensibly..... 25+ overall if used with enthusiasm. The gearchange is slightly notchy, but no worse that other six speed boxes. The only bug I can report is the loud and irritating warning blings if the lights are left on whilst opening a door, and the extra loud click of the indicators.

A year has gone by without any faults appearing and I still smile when I drive my Ford Focus. It's not the fastest thing on the road by any means (I would have gone for a TVR), but it is as quick as anything that has wanted to "play" against it. The combined package of reasonable acceleration and fabulous handling makes the ST170 a fun package. The cars limits are beyond what any safe driver would reach on public roads... I have been there, done that.
