Good Points

Looks alright, good picture in low signal quality area, intuitive menu, auto record - timer sets station on Freeview and record on compatible VCR/DVD recorder.

Bad Points

Aerial position setup is poor, can't view or hear channels whilst using EPG

General Comments

I have owned the Philips DTR1500 Freeview box for over a year, and to be fair it is a good little box, and is not the ugliest by any means. The aerial setup is my biggest gripe as you have to select a single channel and adjust the aerial, while not knowing if the other frequencies have fallen away!
It has suffered from overheating with the sound going funny, and distortion at the top of the picture. This has happened 3 times over the course of a year, so not really a big issue.
I find it hard to get passionate about it, but it does the job and does it well. New buyers should purchase one of the Twin Tuners that are coming onto the market, so you can record one channel while watching another. I would also suggest you go to the Manufacturers website and download the User Manual before buying, so you Know exactly what to expect. I am off to buy a Daewoo 608P as a second tuner, which has a more sensitive tuner, and a decent aerial positional menu.
