Bad Points

Rude,objectionable staff who either couldn't or wouldn't speak comprehensible English with the result that we had very little idea of what was going on.
Inedible food.
Far too little leg room.
Very poor and limited entertainment.


General Comments

Four of us flew from London to Madrid and then on to Lima, Peru. The initial flight with Iberia Airlines was very basic with no refreshments and was cramped, however this did not concern us at first as it was only a short flight. On arrival in Madrid the Iberia flight to Peru was delayed with no explanation or appology. The conditions on this flight were totally sub standard, given it was a long haul flight of 10 hours and 50 minutes we expected enough refreshments and enough room to be able to move our legs comfortably, this was not so; we were very cramped and there was only three short films shown -and only one televsion per three rows meaning we couldn't see the films without craning our necks uncomfortably. The staff were rude, unhelpful and spoke extremely poor English as did the the captain, and seemed very unkeen to help anyone who didn't speak Spanish . The food was bland at best and they ran out of snacks. The return flight from Lima to Madrid was even worse! The food was actually inedible; stale bread lukewarm chicken slimey withered salad and revolting coffee as unacceptable as this was the service onboard and off made the refreshments appear luxurious! We were treated with disdain by the staff and more as a burden than the paying customers we are! Finally, when boarding the flight from Madrid to London i was shouted at by a member of staff for not having the correct bit of ticket in hand , despite having had no instruction as to what this would have been. As you can imagine, this was particularly distressing after almost 20 hours of travelling; flying within Peru to Lima and then home, to London, and totally uncalled for, and in fact reduced me to tears.
Overall extremely dissatisfactory , unpleasent infuriating, i will certainly not use Iberia again, and will strongly urge others to do the same , You have my deepest sympath if you are unfortunate enough to have to use their "service"

    I agree. This is the worst airline I've come across. Two years ago I booked a flight with them also, and was denied boarding due to overbooking. I arrived just within 2 hours of take-off, so they said they had the right to deny since I was supposed to be at the airport 2 hours before take-off. There were no compensation rules at that time, so I was never compensated.

    I was so stupid to book a flight with them again last week. Very unfriendly, I was denied boarding arriving at the gate 15 minutes before take-off, normally no problem. In Phoenix I managed to get on board a US Carrier arriving 15 minutes before take-off at the airport!

    I did, however not get angry since I arrived none too early, so could not say too much. Staff were very unfriendly, and I was forced to buy a new ticket for twice the price of the original round-trip by very unfriendly staff in Madrid. Nevertheless, this was just the start of my horrible experience later on. After recollecting my suitcase, I checked in on a flight 7 hours later and finally got to Amsterdam, where I found out that my luggage got lost on the easy direct flight Madrid-Amsterdam.

    I am today still trying to get my luggage back, and they are giving me different information every day when calling their non-free information number, sometimes letting you wait for a long time. The first day they said the bag was still in Madrid due to congestion, and that it would probably arrive the same day or tomorrow. Now they say they never traced the bag. I do not think they will ever reimburse anything at all, after an expensive one-way flight.

    They seem to be incapable of delivery of your luggage on an easy direct flight.

    I will never fly Iberia again.
