Today, they charge £39.50 on every failed direct debit payment and will take this charge out of your account within seven days.
The telephone banking is appalling. It states the balance of your account which seldom reflects reality. Also, talking to a human can only be achieved by refusing to press any buttons on your phone (I had to work that out for myself).
The Halifax do pay interest on credit, but this is a fraction of any charges that you can pay unless you are very rich.
