Excellent power, great gas mileage (avg. 24-26, city/hwy.combined), comfortable, graceful styling hides the twin turbos well, mechanically excellent after two years, thought of trading in on the 2006 Volvo but it is paid off and doing awesome!
None on the 2002 but the new 2006 S80s have a weaker 2.5T or a guzzling V8. Sad to see the T6 option gone.
I was not a Volvo fan when I took my wife to see the XC90. She did not want to buy at that time but we saw a 2002 S80 T6, end of year deal. I drove it, love the horsepower, loved the ride, could not believe it was a Volvo. 0-6 is 6.5, top speed of 155? A Volvo? That power means the engine is not stressed too much on the interstate. Got a super deal, $10,000 off and I bought my first (and only to date) Volvo.
Car is two years old, still gets great comments from people who love the styling, the color, the ride. I am disappoined Volvo is not keeping the T6 as those turbos have been perfect to date for me. Recently looked at other cars if I were to trade my Volvo in; BMW 530, Aucra RL, Lexus IS 330 and Caddys but keeping the S80 T6 for now. I have the power, the comfortable ride, better gas mileage, good storage in the trunk, and a great looking car to boot. Why trade now?
I would not have the S80 2.9 or 2.5T as they simply do not have the extra boost of the T6. The V8 reads like a gas guzzler which with the price of gas, I cannot afford. I would recommend a Volvo S80 T6. Excellent car.
