Unique stylistic take on dance music. The mix of Asian and European disco, blends smoothly and engagingly.
Dancer and Poet Philein, is one ambitious lady, daring to crossover back and forth between Asian pop and European dance music, on her debut album, "Child of No Nation."
The title is a reference to Philein's stylistic hybrid, as well as her state of mind, feeling neither at home in her native land as well as the one she has relocated to. At least that is the impression she seems to be communicating in the song of the same name.
For the most part, the music works, bridging the gap between J-Pop and Anglo club music. "For All Eternity" in its multilingual variations has the most impact. Her soft voice has an ethereal undertone that can be truly alluring, and on "For All Eternity" she sounds in command of it.
Overall, this is a pretty good CD, that doesn't ask too much from the listener, but is very rewarding.
