Bad Points

Goes cloudy after a while

General Comments

This tangy shower gel from Lush promises a 'juicy burst of fresh lemon and lime for mornings when the last thing you want to do is get out of bed'. A 'Slammer alarm call', they say, is just the remedy for the morning after the night before.

Product details
Slammer comes in plastic bottles in three sizes, 100g (£1.95); 250g(£3.85); and 500g (£6.75). It contains lime (peel, juice and oil), lemon oil, sea water, honey, rock salt and litsea cubeba oil (whatever that is), as well as some colouring and a couple of unpronounceable ingedients that sound vaguely chemical. All of these combine to make a product with a lovely citrusy (lemon and lime, as you would guess) scent.

Performance
Slammer is refreshing from the time you open the bottle to the end of the shower. You only need a little (perhaps just over a teaspoonful) to provide a good lather, and you end up with smooth, squeaky clean skin. You can also use it on your hair, with the same result.

Lush promise that this shower gel will be an eye-opener and I've used it several times after nights of broken sleep so that I could make the 50-mile commute to work. As I've so far managed to avoid both speeding tickets and accidents, I can only conclude that it works.

There's just one small criticism. Since I've got lots of shower gels and bath stuff, I don't use the Slammer every day. (I've had this 250g bottle for eight months and there's still a quarter of it left.) As a result, it's gone a bit cloudy now. The colour has changed from a bright, clear orange to a deeper, almost rust colour. It still smells heavenly, though, like warm, tropical places, a bit like a beach holiday in a bottle.
