Useless billing and terrible customer support
I've been with Scottish Power for about four years and have noticed that prices seem to keep rising more and more, until recently I got a bill for £498 quid out of the blue for my gas and electricity. When I phoned them they told me that I haven't paid any gas for a year, and that I had put myself into a "debt situation". I told them I had paid all of my quarterly bills without fail. I spent hours on the phone to them at enormous expense while they investigated, and then a stuffy woman told me that in fact they hadn't billed me for my gas for a year!! She didn't apologise: in fact, she told me it was my own fault for not checking what I was paying for. The bills are confusingly laid out and it's not always obvious. They gave me the option of paying it now in a lump sum or signing up for a direct debit for a year (as if I would trust them with that!), thereby entering into another year's energy with Scottish Power. I phoned Energy Watch - very helpful, and they said try and get 25% off the bill. Scottish Power would only take 10% off, which I have reluctantly had to pay. I dealt with many different people at Scottish Power over the last month and not one of them apologised - in fact they were rude and unhelpful. I will CERTAINLY be going elsewhere for my energy from now on! I am not a naturally angry person, so please forgive me for my rather raw review. They have driven me to it.
