Good Points

This hotel is small and very friendly and on the beach!
The rooms are well furnished with a fridge and TV and a balcony, most of which have a sea view, which is lovely.
There is a hotel bar which serves snacks and drinks and overlooks the beach.


Bad Points

Carrying luggage down the road to the hotel as the coach could not go down.


General Comments

The Platanias Mare hotel is approximately 40 minutes drive from Chania airport and is situated at the end of a cul de sac, almost on the beach.

It also has self catering apartments and a smallish pool with some sunbeds but not many umbrellas. There is also a grassed area near the pool where you could sunbathe.

The beach is beautiful and you can hire a sunbed and an umbrella for 2.50 Euros per day. There are many bars along the beach, serving drinks and typical Greek food. The sea breeze makes it very pleasant.

Our room had a fridge, which enabled us to buy drinks and was very useful. It also had a TV with about 28 channels, many of which were Greek but there were some English speaking ones. The room was well furbished and very clean and we had maid service 4 days out of 7. The balcony overlooked the sea and it was a joy to sit there, both in the morning and the evening, with a drink, taking in the view.

The 'strand' which had many shops, bars and restaurants was only a two minute walk away but was far enough away so that the hotel was quiet, there was not noise from any other bars or hotels.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Platanias Mare and would definitely return.
