General Comments
My initial Red Letter Days was a prize won at work. I decided to go on the London Weekend break with my girlfriend. The first problem that we encountered is that at the hotel the check in staff did not know what to do with the Voucher! After 30 minutes of Explaining about Red Letter Days and a phone call to the hotel manager we were finally allowed to stay. Other than this the only problem we had is that we found out that it would of been cheaper to book the hotel direct (obviously this didn't bother me too much as I didn't actually pay).
A year or so later I booked my partner a Swimming with Sharks experience through Red Letter Days, on the phone I was promised that it would be possible to book within a couple of days around the time of her birthday. Due to the way they work though I couldn't book the experience when I bought the voucher, but would get a phone call nearer the time to be able to confirm dates (from here on my experience went from bad to worse). I eventually got a call only to be told that the closest availble date was two months after her birthday. Next two weeks before the event it was cancelled with no explaination and I was told that I would need to book a different experience (as they did not think that the experiance was offering value for money) or loose my money (£195). After about 10 phone calls to try to speak to a manager to get a refund and been fobbed off every time I decided to ring the venue to find out what was going on, they told me that they cancelled all Red Letter Days experiences as they had not been paid by them (incidentally I was told that I could book the experience with them for £175).
After I rang back red letters with this information they told me that this was in the process of been solved and I would get a new date that week. After not recieving any correspondance from red letter days I contact Trading Standard who told me that Red Letter Days had now gone into adminstration and that unless I have paid by credit card it is very likely that I would loose my money.
There are lots of press artictcles stating that full refunds will be given by Red Letter Days. This, in my experience so far is not the case, contacting Red Letter Days direct has not helped, I am know contacting the Administrator to get a refund.
MY Advice, cut out the middle man book your experience direct and get better customer service and less hassle.
