I bought a .22 Vulcan secondhand about a year ago. I have no idea of its history or age though I'm sure from visiting the Webley website that it is a Mk 3.
I have fitted a silencer (moderator) and a Theoben Gas Ram which transformed the rifle making it much smoother and more consistently accurate although it was good with the coil spring.
Theoben advertise the shorter 'lock time' of a Gas Ram as a good thing, I agree. This is the time between you squeezing the trigger and the pellet leaving the barrel, the shorter this time, the less time the pellet spends in the barrel, the less time I've got to muck it up and consistent accuracy is improved. I regularly shoot Magpies and Pigeons out of the trees at the bottom of my garden which is 30 yards and have shot one Rabbit at 20 yards with no problems.
The trigger lets this rifle down (as I said I don't know its history and it may be worn out) I dismantle the rifle which is easy, then grease it with the proper grease, then have to do it again every 500 shots, the Gas Ram may not be helping here by overloading the mechanism.
I like this rifle, even with the silencer it's well balanced and I have no plans to sell it though I'm thinking of having my local gunshop have a look at it to service it.
Once it's Zero'd it stays on point.I have a Combro
CB625 cronograph and with unsorted Webley Lazapell pellets it's always between 11.4-11.8 ft/lbs. Which is more consistent than I am.
A good solid first or Ratting/knockabout gun.
