General Comments

The Motoflow, manufactured by Ecoflow plc, and formerly known as an Ecoflow, is a fuel conditioner for use in cars and motor vehicles. It is designed for use with petrol and diesel engines, and has been tested by laboratories around the world, including the British Government's environmental laboratory, where a 12,000 mile test showed improved fuel economy, increased power and reduced emissions.
It uses the patented "Central Reverse Polarity" to magnetically condition fuel, and it is believed that this increases the fuels efficiency and power output, and at the same time helps to reduce harmful emissions.
The Motoflow is very easy to fit and takes only a few minutes. It is fitted to the fuel line to the engine by means of straps. It is then ready to start work as it requires no power source or maintenance. The fuel has to pass through the effects of the "Central Reverse Polarity" magnet, thus being conditioned prior to combustion. The process is known as Ionisation by Magnetic Induction.
Engines that have been fitted with a Motoflow have shown to be more fuel efficient, doing more miles to the gallon, and having a more complete combustion. They can be moved from car to car, so once bought you never have to buy another. In our case, it is now fitted to the fourth car and still working just as well. MOT testing has always found there have been no emissions since fitting.
The Motoflow has a recommended retail price of £50. There are two models: Motoflow 1 for all carburettor engines up to seven litres, and Motoflow 2 which is for all other vehicles up to three litres requiring one unit, and over three litres require two.
The Motoflow, like other Ecoflow products, is only available through distributors.

I was handed an Ecoflow leaflet in June 2006, so don't understand the reference to Motoflow having replaced this brand name in 2005, but assuming we're discussing the same product and manufacturer (Ecolflow), it might interest potential buyers to note that a complaint against the claims of scientific testing was upheld by the Advertising Standards Authority in 2002 who ordered the company to stop using references to the Warren Springs Laboratory test in its advertising. The grounds were that the test was flawed and carried out on a carbureted, pre-catalytic vehicle no longer representative of modern vehicles.

The leaflet I was handed, which has a reference number ECO-12109 if that helps anyone to identify it, still uses this reference!

I have spent a whole morning researching online, looking for an independent test of this product, and have failed to find one, or any identifiable reference to one. My feeling is that if this product worked and conferred an economic benefit that offset the cost within a reasonable period, then it should be possible to come up with a scientific test clearly demonstrating such results. Anecdotal evidence can always be found to support the efficacy of anything I'm afraid.

For some things experience speaks louder than all the 'proof' provided by laboratory testing.

I fitted an Ecoflow fuel conditioner to my Cobra 6 months ago. I now get 16mpg, instead of 15. And I hit 60mph in 3.8 seconds, instead of 3.9.

Thanks for the endorsement. As I said, experience speaks louder than all the "proof" offered by experiments trying to disprove. I'm sure you will continue to find benefits with the Ecoflow fuel conditioner.

I too am looking for some genuine research on this product. I work for a resource efficiency club which gives free advice to companies on reducing costs and environmental impact. I keep finding people selling the things but so far nothing to convince me they work.
If they do what they say on the tin they should be on the Carbon Trust's approved energy technology list and we all should be recommending them to businesses. If they don't.......

Anyone know where I can find some genuine research. Any agents out there prepared to put the boot on the other foot and offer one free in exchange for some hard data collection??

    Hi,
I had to read your review re the Ecoflow magnets and your comments, well may I tell you that I do not know the facts about them, however there are magnets out there that do work and the best way to prove they work is to get emissions report from your M.O.T. station, then install 1 or 2 magnets depending on size of car after your fuel pump and filter and before your injector, run the car for 3 months and get another emissions test, you will probably get a reduction of at least 30% of hydrocarbons, this is the real proof they work, this means that if you get a reduction in Hydrocarbons you are going to save fuel. The Carbon Trust have a number of Government advisors they don't always get it right and that all magnets that do work regardless of manufacturer should be given the Energy Saving Trust logo for their products and in fact if you look at the VOSA (May 2006) publication it explains about harmful emissions of which Hydrocarbons are one not just Co2's. I believe all vehicles should have magnets installed and by proof of your emissions report you should get a road tax reduction based on the results.
If you want to read the full real scientific facts contact GMX Europe or GMX International, they have the proof and worldwide testimonials. I hope this info is of some use to you and other readers.

    best regards

Hi. I could fill pages of details on Motoflows (and thermoflows). I highly recommend them to anyone, but I will keep things as concise as I can.

These units are fuel saving devices for internal combustion engines and boilers (gas or oil). They simply strap on to the fuel pipe and treat the fuel by magnetic induction. The ionised fuel carries a positive charge, so it combines more readily with the naturally negatively-charged oxygen. This produces more efficient combustion, more power, more miles to the gallon and less exhaust pollution.

Fitted correctly, a fuel conditioner can achieve 10 to 15% fuel saving. The cost of the units today are about £55.

I did a test on a Ford Fiesta 1100 - J reg in 2003. The car is my wife's runabout, so it doesn't have long mileage.

Before fitting, I did 5 consecutive fill ups - averaged 41.05 mpg. MOT tested co2 = 2.84% volume.

After fitting, I did another 5 consecutive fill ups - averaged 44.5 mpg. MOT tested co2 = 1.11% volume.

It has more than paid for its cost, and it will continue to do so. If you change cars just swap it to the new one. I also have a Thermoflow on my oil central heating, and it saves those fuel bills too.

They work on all types of engines, whether fuel injection, electronic engine management systems and catalytic converters.
