For three years, the camera worked great.

The infamous "SYSTEM ERROR"


General Comments

I love the features, and quality of the photos I got from my Nikon 775, but the other day without warning I got this "System Error", and the lens assembly froze open. I went online to see what info I could find, and realized that this is a very common problem. I strongly suggest that no one buy a used 775 online, because it appears to have a severely limited life span.

    I totally agree. This error appeared almost 3 years to the day after my purchase from Jessops in Edinburgh. Does anyone know if there is a 5 year statutory obligation for manufacturers to warranty electrical goods? I read that they do, but have never had occasion to test it.
