This is a wonderful book set in 18th century Paris, about a young urchin who finds fame and fortune due to his incredible sense of smell. The story is told with wonderful drive and passion, and the use of language evokes the senses in a remarkable original way. However, his incredible sense, and his obsession, also leads him down a dark alley of murder. A very inspired novel, which is also a very easy cannot put down sort of read. Highly recommended.
