Rhodes Royal Hotel Review

I hate to sound so negative, but the only one good thing I can say about this hotel, is that it was very clean!

No air conditioning in any of the rooms apart from the owner's room.
You have to pay extra per week for a fan.
The hotel only has single beds.
They don't believe in shower curtains.
You only get one complimentary toilet roll for the duration of your stay.
They charge you more than double for drinks and food from the snack bar.
The holiday rep didn't seem to be very interested.
You have to hire a safety deposit box for an extra charge.
It's more like a 15 minute walk rather than a 5 minute walk to the beech.
The area surrounding the hotel is just wasteland, and smells really bad as your walking down the hill. Upon speaking to some of the locals, they didn't know of the Rodos Sun, after explaining its location they all referred to it as an area that smells.

Now where do I start?
I've always read other peoples reviews and thought to myself, why do people bother if they haven't got anything nice to say.. Well it's my turn now. Are you ready for the truth...?
A twin pack of coke and sprite plus a free coca-cola glass only cost 88 cents from Asda. At the hotel you would pay 8 Euros just for one bottle!
In the briefing on your first morning, your warned by the rep and hotel staff, not to go to the supermarkets (they have an Asda and Sainsbury's just down the hill approx 100m away), as they will charge you three times as much as what you would pay at home. Nevertheless, we ventured out and found that it was the other way round. The supermarkets turned out to be very reasonable, and we realised that the hotel was making at least a 200% profit on us!!
The hotel offers a barbeque on one of the evenings for 10 Euros per person. You only get a small fillet of chicken or diced pork, with a bit of salad, rice and a couple of potatoes, not forgetting the small slice of garlic bread. This was definitely the worst meal of our holiday. Not very filling!!! We paid 10 Euros for this meal, and in comparison for this price, you can get a meal twice the size and quality at one of the local restaurants. So don't be fooled or pressured by the hotel, as you will get more for your money out.
The pool area was well-maintained and very clean, and the staff are approachable.
Overall, we found that this hotel will make as much money out of you as it possibly can. Not the place to stay if you want value for your money!
