Good Points

Cannot think of any - oh yes A very good radio and CD player
Lots of room

Bad Points

Ford recalled make 5 or 6 times since new. Service depots have a very poor attitude to customers and problems. Poor vision due to massive windscreen pillers and poor wiper sweep. Rain comes in and floods car and corrodes electrical connectors, causing many faults over time. Poor plastic trim fastenings so trim always falling off. Air con keeps breaking down.

General Comments

I don't like the Ford Galaxy for the reasons stated above, but the dealer service departments are what really hurt. I find the vision out of the windscreen very limited and in particular there is a constant blind spot when turning left or right, where pedestrians can become invisible. The car has done 156000 miles, partly because I cannot afford to change it, and recently after a dealer forgot to check the spark plugs, I was told I needed a new engine, (£4750) I took it to a local garage who fixed it for £170 and its been running fine ever since. I would not buy another one and if I had thought more about the fuel consumption figures would have got a diesel.

I agree with everything this owner has written. in addition, my Galaxy caught fire, melting the fuse box. I was towed to a number of garages, including a Ford dealer, none of whom would touch the car, as the problem was a common fault! A dealer in Banbury finally agreed to do the work with a resultant cost of £450 for a new alternator and fuse box. Also, I complained that the engine fans were noisy, so they agreed one was faulty and disconnected the other. The cruise control has failed and the automatic climate control display flashes. Ford's customer service is atrocious and I can't wait to get rid of the Galaxy, having had it for 41\2 years!

I totally agree with the poor vision due to windscreen pillars. Also i find that i can't open the window after it has rained as the water blows off of the windscreen into the car. On the positive side, we have just driven through France to southern Italy with three teenage children and it was the best possible car for us to travel in. Loads of room for the children and luggage once a middle seat and a back seat were removed. Our Galaxy travelled 3000 miles and didn't even hiccup. The fuel consumption was astonishingly low and the engine had not used a drop of oil. I think that apart from having to look around that windscreen pillar and not being able to open windows on a wet day, our Ford Galaxy has got to be the most comfortable and reliable family car/work horse that i have ever owned in twenty years of driving.
