Stone Cold Steve Austin's Review of Cutting It
16th Aug 2005
Overall Rating
- Starring (Main Performers)Sarah Parish, Amanda Holden, Jason Merrells
I used to really enjoy Cutting It, but I feel the program has taken a gradual decline to the point where I couldn't be bothered with the latest series.
The first series was excellent! The plots and stories were exceptionally integrated, and it was both funny and heart wrenching to watch.
Since the first series it has steadily got worse though.
The second series followed up the first series with some really strong drama, advancing the plot nicel,y and again applying more twists and turns by the bucketload.
Series 3 is where the rot set in for me. They changed the format and stupidly, concentrated on one main character for each episode, this weakened the whole set-up, as it felt like individual stories as opposed to one superb story with integrated plots.
Season 4, I couldn't be bothered with, so no comment!
Overall: Great characters. Allie Henshaw is deeply flawed but likeable, and she is the shows heroine. She received cracking support from Gavin (the wronged husband). Finn (a bad guy that you really want to punch), and the delightful Mia (the minx that is Amanda Holden). There are plenty of other delightful characters also, including Allie's mother, a classic matriach/battleaxe. The likeable Manchester City supporting loser, Eugene. And all of Allie's sisters, and the rebellious Ruby.
The first 2 seasons are smashing! Avoid season 3, and I will pass judgement on the fourth installment.
