General Comments

OK, let me start by saying that before I went to the suncrest, I read all the reviews on different web sites and was gutted. I tried to change my hotel with my tour operator, but luckily for me, most other hotels were full and I couldn't swap without paying a fortune.
On arrival at the hotel, the lobby area is lovely and the reception staff were very helpful and friendly. We were asked if we wanted to upgrade to a seaview room for an extra £130, but we declined and were given one anyway!!
The rooms are very spacious, but are dated, and do have small faults like a broken handle on a cupboard, and one of the balcony bars missing. This theme carries on throughout the hotel with very minor problems like door handles being loose or broken. It is nothing a good handyman couldn't sort out in a couple of weeks though, and the problems were that minor that it did not affect our holiday at all.
The food is also excellent and good value for money. we went half board and payed £3 each per night. This allowed us to have £7 each worth of food at the kal kaptain pizza restaurant which is fantastic, £13 worth of food each in the ill tok maltese restaurant, where the food is served buffet style, but was always beautiful and hot. If you want to eat out, you can also have lunch at the hotel instead of dinner, so you get your moneys worth. Most reviews slagged of the pavillion restaurant, but there is no need to eat there if you don't like it !!!
The hotel does let a large group of students stay there, who are at some sort of summer school camp. However, they get taken away on trips at 9am every morning, and stay out all day. They are also taken away from the hotel most evenings. They were rowdy on a couple of occassions at nights, but kids are!
The pool area of the hotel is also very nice, and is considered by locals to be one of the best on the island. From the others we saw. I would agree with that. It leads from the pool to the seafront, which is lovely, with cyrstal clear water, and excellent for snorkelling. The pool attendents were also very helpful and friendly, and were constantly cleaning up around the pool to ensure it stayed neat and tidy.
The resort itself is also lovely and there are lots of restaurants, cafes and bars if you take to the back streets. You can walk to Buggiba square on the back roads in about 10 to 15 minutes, but if you walk straight down the coast road, it takes about 30 to 40 minutes, so it is worth exploring and finding your way around.
There is a restaurant called venus just off buggiba square, opposite the primera hotel, which is fantastic for a top class meal.
The evening entertainment at the hotel was a bit naff, and was geared towards the older end of the market, with things like country and western singers, and 60's and 70's style singers, but on the resort you can walk into any hotel, and watch their entertainment if you want to, so it isn't too bad.
The last thing to mention, was the time share touts. There aren't that many, but they hunt around for the young people in the resort. If you say "no" straight away, they leave you alone, so don't encourage them or let them fool you with free gifts etc...
Overall the holiday was fantastic, and I would have given it 5 stars, but for the minor problems in the hotel. The facilities there are the best in the area by far, and I would recommend it.
