Good Points

Looks nice. Sucks like a jet engine.

Plastic build, poor durability, some bad design points.


General Comments

I've had a Dyson DC05 Vacuum Cleaner (the Green 'plus' model) for three years now. Whilst it performs OK as a vacuum cleaner, there are a number of irritating design and/or construction faults. Firstly, the removable parts can be annoying and difficult to remove. The dust container, for example; you spend ages trying to remove the top to empty it, then it flies off in your hand and empties the contents across your living room. The thing won't pull easily round corners (it always gets caught on the architrave), the hoses and tools won't come apart easily, the floor tool won't switch between the hard and soft floor settings without a fight. The cable rewind is tiny, and I've read reports about the flimsy mains cable breaking inside (though this hasn't happened to me - yet). The DC05 is generally plastic like and flimsy. The metal telescopic hose and hand grip connector, both fell apart while the machine was stored in a cupboard! This could not be down to hard use, as I am a bit lazy and only hoover once a month! For a machine that is so heavily hyped as to its design qualities, to have such basic faults is inexcusable. The thing is BADLY DESIGNED.
