Good Points

Manager intervened and saved me a lot of money


Bad Points

Rental car had 38,000 miles, trunk would not close, steering was bad, loud noise in suspension, engine light stayed on, smelled of heavy smoke and looked very bad with dents and scrapes all over the car.


General Comments

Payless Car Rental - Picked up car at Vegas Airport and had to fill out faults of this vehicle on my own in 115 degree heat. Delivered the faults I saw with vehicle to home office before I left the lot. While driving to Hotel I noticed a lot of issues with the car such as loud suspension noise, bad steering, heavy smoke smell, trunk was open and would not close and then I noticed several large dents in windshield. I telephoned car company and left a message regarding this car's issues and gave car company my cell phone number. Payless never called back. After (6) days I delivered car back after placing 120 miles and never leaving Las Vegas Strip. After looking over the car the attendant informed the sales associate that there was a star dent in windshield. Associate tried to get me to agree to pay ($40) for repairs and when I began to mention this car's age, (3) years old and 38,000 miles along with the numerous problems including the trunk a nice manager took over and informed me that the condition of this car was not acceptable for me to rent and did not enforce the issue of $40 for the windshield. Bottom line left me feeling guilty for returning a car that was in bad shape but later I realized that this car company knew of the shape this car was in prior to me renting. How may other folks get trapped by these bad business practices? Do not rent from Payless!
