General Comments

We were allocated on arrival in Port El Kantaoui to the Melia El Mouradi Palace and were very pleased. On arrival we were greeted with a complementary drink and our luggage taken by the hotel porters to our room.

The first room we were allocated had a funny smell in it so we told reception who investigated and immediately gave us a different room which was smell free! Staff were nice and helpful.

The rooms were perhaps not 5* in decor but extremely comfortable, clean and with everything you'd need. Ours had a separate toilet, impressive bathroom with bath and excellent shower and plenty of towel hanging space, twin beds, seating with table, dressing table, lots of storage space and balcony with table and chairs, safety deposit box, fridge, tv and a good air con system.

Our air con started rattling one day so we informed reception on our way out and by the time we got back it had been fixed with no fuss.

The food was nice with lots of choice for breakfast (fruit, cereal, pancakes, toast, pastries, cheeses, ham, english cooked, tea, coffee, juices, etc.) and evening meals (different choices each night some of which is cooked in front of you although someone we met did comment on the lack of UK kid friendly food at dinner, i.e., there were no pizzas, chicken nuggets, etc., but there was plenty of chips and pasta and ice cream!).

The pool was huge and fab with no problem getting sun loungers and cushions even in high season. There was lots to do if so inclined such as daily water aerobics, tai chi, darts, water polo, rifle shooting, table tennis all free of charge. The poolside restaurant was lovely (esp the cheeseburger!)

Throughout the stay, staff were nothing but attentive, helpful, polite and there was always someone around to ask for help. The service was the best I have experienced.

There was different entertainment each night out on the terrace which we enjoyed before heading to the hotel disco. (Note-this is not your average disco as the music is somewhat behind ours but was somewhere to go til later and have some more drinks and we had some good laughs doing daft dances from the water aerobics routines!)

I had a fantastic, relaxing holiday and did very little, whilst my boyfried enjoyed the water polo and general messing around in the pool.

Stayed in March 2005 - allocated on arrival via Panorma - found staff very friendly and attentive, food excellent and varied - never spoilt for choice - kids were more than happy with the choice available. Made full use of Turkish baths and massage and can thoroughly recommend.
