General Comments

Honda Civic SIR 1.6 engines have a range of different powers straight from the factory, anywhere between 160bhp and 170bhp. But not only is there power, the gearing is so perfect that this car can out accelerate much better cars on paper.

I've modified the car by changing the air intake (this was mainly to hear the VTEC since Honda have made a long air intake system to kill the noise pollution- I highly recommend this, it's sweet and not too loud) and also I've taken the CAT off. I would not make any other mods because Honda has already perfected this engine to deliver power and reliability.

The specs for these cars are not very accurate. 3 friends of mine all had a Civic VTI and each was different in performance. I'm lucky to have a good one. I hit 60mph in 6.5 seconds and can go to 100mph with a full car in just under 16 seconds!! On top of this, the clock reads 145mph, on a motorway it's too easy to go off the clock!! (rev limiter stops the car in 5th gear at around 152mph) The 130mph top speed stated is a myth, even on the windy country roads in Wales this car hits 130mph with ease and keeps going.

This must be one of the most underestimated cars on the roads. Only those who have driven it gives it the respect it deserves. And from the many friends I know who have tried moving on to better car- they all say that it's not easy to beat the thrill of driving these cars.
