Good Points

None. At all.

Bad Points

Incredibly high interest rates,& high random charges.

General Comments

Kensington Mortgages are unbelievably dreadful. They will impose random interest rate rises even though the Bank of England rates havent changed (Is this even legal? Im about to find out). They are utterly ruthless & using them will cost far more than any alternative you care to think about - including selling the property.

I didnt want to pass this opportunity to leave comment after such a good review. I couldn't agree more with every word about kensington, i myself have had experience with this company and I hope some people will take notice when i say its really not worth it, reposession with kensington is very common due to them increasing their charges and interest very very regularly. If you want a martgage, my advice is, use anyone except kensington. Do you really want to lose the house you worked so hard for after a few years and have all the hassle of repo? Nah, i think not!

I have found Kensington to be extreamly expensive and interest rates and repenption fees are extortionate. However, I had no other option but to have my mortgage with this lender & have found their service second to none - the staff know what they are talking about & are professional and polite & always do what they say they will.

there is no way you have spoken to kensington if you think their staff know what they are talking about, i have personally spoken to every member of their staff now and have always found they know nothing, if you are keeping it simple and only asking simple things then sure they`ll help, but make it a little more complicated and you`ll find none of them know anything. Since i started looking into them i found many many unhappy customers, over 35% of which have ended up losing there homes. I didnt use kensington for any other reason than personal recommendation but if you do have bad credit then other lenders are much more professional and able to help with all requests and not just the ones that benefits them. I could go on forever about kensington, but a simple search on the net finds enough bad experiences without me joining in. Id say stay well clear of kensington, even if it means you cant get a mortgage. they are only interested in making money by ripping off customers with high charges, bad service, lack of knowledge and overall very unprofessional service. if you guys only ever listen to one thing you hear on the net, listen to this. i dont think your home is ever worth risking like that.

I completely agree with the bad reviews on kensington mortgages, in fact I'd go as far as to say they are crooked. I ended up having to sell after they kept trying to repossess and even though my sale was due to exchange in just a couple of days they took me to court to try & kick me out. My lawyer tells me they will sell the property through an estate agent at a bargain basement price & then they will get a kickback - whilst I would have lost EVERYTHING I worked so hard for. My mortgage went from about £1200 per mth to over £2000 thanks to their small print. This is on a one bedroom flat! If I'd rented it out they would have jacked the rate up so much, any extra would have been swallowed up. In the end I sold for a decent price, but then, lo & behold they made a 'mistake' on my redemption figure & managed to extort another £300 from me 3 weeks after the sale completed! All in all they made a fortune from me & I wish to God I'd never used them.

I had a twelve month fixed rate mortgage with Kensington, after being recommended by Black and White Mortgage company. This ran out at the beginning of December. Since then, Kensington have increased payments three times to over £140 per month.

We have been with the Kensington for over 4 years now & wish we had never bought our home or gone anywhere near them. Odd thing is our credit was A1 when we took the mortgage out - Now it is in a right mess as our monthly payment is nearly 3 times our first monthly payment. Even trying to find out what the Kensington Variable rate is a nightmare. We are now selling up & moving into rented to escape the awful treatment we have received. Scared of falling into the same trap again with another company.
