General Comments

The accommodation at Peyda Aqua Apartments: The self catering facilities where exceptionally poor, with no toaster, grill or oven. There was an old portable two ring electric hob which took up to an hour to boil water let alone make a meal for 2 adults and 3 children. Our room - although cleaned more than many other guest's was spacious however, the soft furnishings in the living area which doubled up as further sleeping facilities were dirty and cumbersome. Irregular changing of towels coupled with the inability to self clean/sweep the apartment due to no cleaning tools meant the apartment was dirty most of the time. However the worst part of the apartment must have been the showeroom/bathroom. It was rundown and in desperate need of refurbishment! The shower was no more than a portable rubber mixer tap, and water temperature was hard to sustain which made it stressful for our children and frustrating for the adults. Altinkum - The Resort The aggressive nature with which the restaurants within Altinkum 'tout' for business, made a leisurely walk into town more like 'running a gauntlet'. The young Turkish men aggressively and persistently pursued girls irrespective of their age or accompanied by their parents. Some young girls found it upsetting as did many parents.
Overall we were extremely disappointed with both the accommodation and the resort. We felt that we were just seen as 'walking lira'. It will be a long time before we contemplate in revisiting Turkey.
