Delivered on time Cheap
Don't buy any Dell upgrades - too expensive
My old 1997 PC can't cope with the modern world. So I ordered a Dell Dimension 3000 17" CRT, with minimum warranty, free delivery and £50 off, for a mere £241. I bargain if there ever is one. The computer was delivered on time. It is a good build quality, the keyboard is child proof. Stick with a CRT and upgrade later. Software includes Windows XP. Sonic DVD burner and a host of ISP and 90 day trial software. The computer defaults to the USA, so this will have a financial advantage when, say upgrading Norton IS. I can't really fault it - the manual misleads you to getting CD+RW, when it needs CD-RW, however it is a generic manual across the 3000 range, not one for your machine. The only bad points are the cost for upgrading from the basic machine. 256k Memory costs £16 to install yourself, not the fortune Dell ask for. The extended 1yr return to base warranty at over £100, why it is so much I don't know - the user manual tells you how to replace most items and if you are uncertain you'll always a local techi willing to help. To sum up - only buy the basic model. Buy when they have money off (ie £50 for this model), with free delivery (another £59), no extended warranty (another £110) - that is only 9 months remember! Watch the Dell adverts for money off and free delivery and buy when these offers are on. You want a computer with a third off list price don't you?
