Good Points

Lovely looking phone, stylish and neat, compact and extremely light. Black in colour with silver trim, makes up the smooth edges and ergonomic design. Quick Flip button reveals 1" colour screen and easy to use silver touch pad. Includes point and click inbuilt camera, and easy to use operating system.

Bad Points

Sadly will only play polyphonic tunes and not MP3 or WAV. Does not allow recorded sounds to be used as tones or alarms. No diary included, so unable to make daily notes and reminders. The alarm only works once and cannot be repeated for future dates. Annoying live button that connects to the Internet, and always when you don't want it to. No visible volume control for calls that need to be turned up or down. Battery life could be improved. And constantly having to re-push buttons when writing text messages.

General Comments

I love the look and feel of this phone; it is light and small enough to fit into most pockets. It has the Symbian Operating System so has been well tried and tested over the years. For simple use the functions provided are adequate enough. For a clam shell this phone is quite masculine in design and pretty close to something Mr Spock may have used.
There are a number of functions missing from the phone that would have made a vast improvement to the end user. A simple dictionary, that allows you to store unusual words when writing text messages. A diary and a to do list should really be standard functionality for mobiles, and yet they are not included here. With Bluetooth as the up and coming networking connectivity, the Panasonic X400 sadly has infrared. Overall, I love this phone simply because it is easy and light to carry around. It lacks a lot of functionality that other manufacturers include as standard, and this would be the main reason for me switching mobile.
