Bad Points

Terrible Customer Service

General Comments

They say it's only when things go wrong that you truly appreciate a company's customer service. With Tiscali, I discovered they were offering new customers the same service as existing customers for almost £10 a month less! They did not even tell existing customers this. Again, some time later, they wrote to me saying I was to be upgraded to a speed of 1Meg, but this did not happen. When I cancelled to change to a cheaper ISP, they were aggressive and offensive. It took me over 6 weeks for the transfer to go through, which I was assured by Ofcom was down to Tiscali - when I tried to respectfully plead with a manager I was verbally insulted and cut off. I complained to the Head Office and they refused to accept my complaint. A very sad indictment on the standard of customer care and service by this ISP.

Its really not good to see that review. But i did have the same issue. I was on 256k and found that new customers are getting speeds at 512k with lower price than my package. Just a call to tech support and they upgraded me to 512k and also reduced my monthly rental as well. When i enquired about upgrade to 1meg, as i had received a mail , they said the bt lines do not support. I enquired with another isp and they gave me the same answer.

The difference was that I was already on 500kps. Without notification by ISPs, the consumers are not aware if price changes and could end up blissfully paying almost twice the subscription cost for over 12 months. This is a deliberate ploy of Tiscali and others, so as consumers and users we need to be vigilant in raising awareness and keeping others informed.
