Lack of foresight and rearside width adjustment. Lack of trigger adjustment Awful first trigger stage Large size will only suit larger hands or double handed use
I'm in two minds about how I'm going to review the Gamo PR45. I have seen it advertised as a target pistol, which is the reason I bought it. It is not a target pistol, if you are serious about target shooting save up and get something else. However, this air pistol certainly warrants some merit as a fun plinker, informal target shooter and as a short range rodent walloper. The trigger is consistant, though a touch heavy, and the 'first stage' needs to be taken up quickly because it is so rough. This can be done safely due to the heavy trigger. The rearsight is adjustable for windage and elevation. Neither the foresight or rearsight are adjustable for width of sight picture. The foresight is way too thin for 10 metre target shooting, but is excellent for placing shots at reletively small mouse sized targets. I opened the rear sight slot slightly with a needle file for a better picture. The handgrip will suit people with large hands and is adequate, though not overly comfortable. Cocking pressure is ok for an adult, though my 12 year old son struggles with this. The pistol is reasonably hefty, feels big in the hand, and wouldn't look out of place in "Pulp Fiction". It also has it's own fitted case. I hated this pistol when I first got it because I was duped into believing it was something that it was not. However, since then I have bought a decent target pistol (R hm Twinmaster), and now love my Gamo PR45 for what it is. An average priced, relatively powerful, reasonably accurate beast of a scary looking pistol that makes tin cans fly, and small furry animals scurry away in abject terror. Incidently, my R hm Twinmaster doesn't have sight width adjustments, and the grip is even less comfortable than the Gamo. I'll get it right one day.
