After the long-awaited dry down it actually smells quite nice...

...but you have to wait a few hours, and it's nearly faded away by then.


General Comments

Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker: Remember how when you were little you were unable to sleep on Christmas Eve because you just knew Santa was going to bring you that new pink and purple bike with a bell and a basket, and you couldn't wait to eat all the candy in your stocking...only to wake up to a sweater knitted by Aunt Marge and a stocking full of apples and oranges? Me neither, but that's what I felt like upon my first whiff of Lovely. I was expecting sweet perfection from the amazing SJP, and instead I got an orange.

Lovely smells like root beer, liquorice and moth balls for a couple of hours (I suppose this is actually the orchid and paper whites). The dry down, which is quite "lovely"(the lavender, amber, and musk?--I never noticed an apple martini smell)would be a payoff if(a)it didn't take so long, (b)it wasn't so darn light and (c)close to the skin. Who wants to smell like liquorice and mothballs for two hours only to have to raise wrist to nose for just the faintest whiff of your fragrance? I have no problem waiting for a fragrance to settle, but two hours is a bit ridiculous for something I can barely smell when it's all said and done--not to mention dealing with the initial scent until then. It's too bad, because I'm on a search for a new signature scent (if you couldn't tell by all my reviews) and I was hoping this would be it. However, there are far better fragrances that I don't have to work so hard to enjoy...but I still love SJP.

    I disagree with this review because...it's clean, fresh, crisp and the only perfume my husband and I both like.
