Bad service throughout the hotel staff bad food bad accomodation

I have never written a review on a hotel before and I have been abroad many times and am only 26, but I felt compelled to write this review just to let anyone that reads it know the truth about the Rodos Maris hotel!


I am shocked that this hotel has any good reviews!! It was a terrible hotel and I would NOT recommend it to anyone at all! As is stated previously it is by no means a 5* hotel even though the ratings are obviously not British...
I went to Egypt at Christmas and I went to Tunisia in March, bearing in mind that the countries are very poor even their standard of 5* is a lot higher than this place!

My first complaint has to be the worst of all. I took my 5 YEAR OLD son with me on holiday and whilst sitting at the bar one evening with the parents of two older children he had met, he is playing just outside the bar we are sitting in and walks in with a GLASS OF BEER in his hand saying its for his dad, we obviously questioned him about how he came to have the beer and assumed he had taken it off a table, but NO he had been served the beer in the bar below us we immediately questioned the staff and they freely admitted to giving him the beer and when I complained to the bar manager he actually laughed it off in a condescending manor saying that they serve the children because they assume it is for their parents!!!
Now I'm not sure how other people feel about this but the thought of my 5 year old being able to be served is very frightening what if he had not been the darling he is and had drunk it himself and fallen in the pool the hotel needs to address this problem but when I went to the manager of the entire hotel he too says it happens a lot and the staff are told to serve the children!!!

5* luxury is what the description says but no no no the rooms are so basic the beds are small single beds shoved together that are very uncomfortable the TV was in German so was pointless the mini bar had 2 beers in and a few bottles of pop very basic to be honest the only good thing was that the room was clean.

The reception staff were above their station by far and took little notice of complaints made! I left some clothes to be cleaned by room service of which they ruined a brand new expensive t-shirt by ironing the print and then the hotel manager refused to cover the cost of the t-shirt by stating that it was in the small print! I was disgusted again!


The food in the hotel restaurants was appalling and was not even hot, then was reheated the next day and put out again, I read that some one mentioned fearing food poisoning, well I was actually SICK in the afternoon after eating from the buffet and am convinced if I hadn't been I would have been extremely ill! My son was also ill that afternoon so I have no doubt it was the food!
The pool bar staff told us as we had drunk a bottle of baileys between 4 of us the night before we were not allowed any more!! All-inclusive my backside!!

The entertainment was terrible again but my little boy enjoyed the nightly dancing that the animation team put on for the children to get involved in!

All in all DO NOT go to this hotel if you want a nice holiday it's more like a two star in India than a five star in Greece, I am not a snob and I am quite happy to chill on holiday and do not expect waiter service like the Hilton but I do expect what is described but unfortunately did not get it here! The description is a load of Lies!

One last thing if you book your holiday through Thomas Cook you will pay twice as much as we paid through last minute.com as that is who we booked through, this review is by no means aimed at them as all the other holidays through them I have been on have been great!
