Good Points
Good value for money. Good classes. Some excellent instructors. Great personal training. Really really friendly club.
Bad Points
Have to cut corners and do things on the cheap to get Head Office to agree to them - hence the quality of some equipment is poor. Dreadful cleaning problem
General Comments
I have been a member of Richmond Pools on the Park SpringHealth Leisure for two years. The main problem they have there is the overall management who don't seem to care anything other than getting their bonuses. Having said that, there are some really really good members of staff there who do care about members. Those staff are friendly and encouraging and knowledgable, and ceratinly it's the most friendly gym I've ever belonged to. The new upgrade (nov 2004) of the health suite and member;'s changing facilities improved things dramatically, although these facilities are showing up signs of things being done on the cheap. The main thing I find is that the centre itself is frequently not clean - the management are aware of the problem but say their predecessors signed a 10 year contract which they can't break with the cleaning company so they are stuck too. The classes are excellent, in particular the boxing, kickboxing and circuit classes, and they have just started spinning classes in a brand new studio, which doubles the amount of classes on offer. The weights machines and free weights are excellent and women as well as men are encouraged to use these. The CV machines are excellent, and there are also swiss balls and all sorts of other accessories to use. Music system is great and I love the fact that the parking is so cheap for members.
