Good handling for a large SUV, plenty of space (we've had 7 adults inside), love the shifter, good power, especially when under way. Looks. Looks. Looks.
We bought our 2000 3.0 used, the only thing I wish it had was a center console.
I love the sound of the diesel engine, my wife and I call it "the song of the diesel." The turbo can be handy when trying to pass other vehicles on our narrow twisty roads. It won't win any drag races, but I didn't buy it for that. I used to own a Trooper which I really liked, but the first time I crawled under the Patrol I was blown away at the sturdiness of the underpinnings. This is one stout machine. It handles great and soaks up the bumps in the road with aplomb. I love this machine.
