General Comments
New jobs are appearing all the time that did not exist just a few years ago. One of these is Color Specialist or Color Expert. The companies that offer this position are Xerox, Icon, Canon, Oce, to name a few.
Graphic designers that are finding graphic design too competitive can take college courses in color and develop a color expertise that will help them to become competitive in this new field.
Typical jobs in this field are related to sales expertise. Typically the color expert will work with a sales team and provide design and graphics and color expertise to a sales force. They may in some cases be expected to close sales.
Pay ranges for this job are very competitive ranging from $50,000 to $70,000 depending on experience.
