General Comments

Nikon 28-80 AF G Series - Mostly this lens is part of a package sold together with the Nikon budget bodies F55, F65 and F75. The barrel is completely of plastic (which makes it very lightweight but also vulnerable to kinetic impacts) and has no f-stop ring. This limits the use to the latest AF-generation of cameras, older bodies like the F801s or F4s can only be used in 'P'rogrammed mode.

Be aware of strong light coming from the side, the lens produces heavy stray-light artefacts.

Using polarizing filter is a pain, because the filter screw-in is directly on the rotating focusing-ring and whenever the filter (or lens-hood) is touched the focus-distance drifts away from the subject.
