Good Points

Has bluetooth (headset only), and tri band. Ergonomic design and good body shell.


Bad Points

-voice only bluetooth
-very slow command
-poor quality screen and camera


General Comments

When O2 launched the all new O2 X1b with bluetooth and triband I thought they had finally cracked it but the it could not be further from the truth. This is the new successor to the old X1i and is retailed at £59.99 the "b" in the name X1b, I guess to mean "black" as the new handset is of a black hue. The list of let downs is almost endless, and where do I start?

Bluetooth cannot send or receive any files, contacts, etc. It can only work the headset. Although it is a 65K colour screen it visually appears to be just slightly better than 4098 pixels. And functions take ages and every command seems to take ages to be executed. It takes at least a minute to switch on the bluetooth. Similar delays in opening messages and files. These properties/issues were associated with its predecessor the X1i, therefore one can safely conclude that this phone has not undergone any significant revision/redevelopement at all. The new X1b, rather like its older sister, cannot send/receive any multimedia files via bluetooth from phone to phone. Camera is of poor quality and has no zoom or white balance so if you are Asian or Black you will appear just as a dark lump with no facial features. When you open the rear cover it appears very cheap and tacky like the old fashioned entry level phones. This has all the functional traits of a basic Samsung and any streetwise kid would instantly recognise it as a bad Samsung derivative. This is not in anyway a bad reflection on Samsung at all, I rather love the Samsung but this is an inferior derivative of it. The comparison is more akin to that between the excellent Honda and its inferior derivative Rover!
