Good Points

Clear screen with good wide angle of viewing.

Bad Points

Very loose audio to video sync.
'Open' button marks the lid when you close it.
Hinge weakens after a while and won't hold screen firmly in position. Even had one break completely and a screw fall out of the lid.

General Comments

A good player let down by poor build quality and that sound sync problem. I had the 1720-A model (which is the metal case version), and looked after it but the hinge still went.

New version has a secure catch instead of a magnetic one, and various other improvements (2 headphone sockets, now plays DiVX format) but I wouldn't risk a Shinco again unless I knew they've fixed that sync problem and improved the strength of the hinge mechanism.

Reckon I'll end up paying more to get a rival 'name' brand with less functionality but better quality.
