General Comments
Out of the Blue is one of those albums that everyone should own. The cover (it's gatefold on vinyl) conjures up images of Spielberg's Close Encounters and Lucas' Star Wars (all came to be at around the same time) Vastly underrated, and full to the brim with glorious, inventive, beautiful and melodic beatlesque music, a tune for every occasion, a song for every mood highlights...the barn stomping Turn to Stone, the glorious sparky's magic piano moments of Mr. Blue Sky, the sweet violins of Sweet Talkin' Woman. The haunting Believe Me Now, the Disneyesque Jungle and the brilliant breathtaking Concerto for a Rainy Day....why (other than Xanadu) did this man not compose more film music?
