Good Points

Awesome location, right smack bang in the middle of the gorgeous Rodney Bay, beautiful (and essentially private) beach a stones throw from every room
Quite a small complex where you will get to know the staff and waiters
Great selection of food (if on all inclusive tariff)
Beachside restaurant
In good locations for day trips (to Castries etc), within walking distance (about 30 mins) or very short taxi ride to historic and beautiful Pigeon Island, use of sister hotel facilities (free use of Papillon), may be few charges for use of supreme spa in the sister 'Royal' hotel, watersports etc are all available and good quality,
Plenty of restaurants and a new shopping centre within walking distance
Stupidly friendly staff making you feel welcome
Great entertainment

Bad Points

Opposite end of island from airport, but as most tour operators operate free transfers these days this isn't a problem (40 mins drive)
Rooms fairly basic for a 4* hotel, but everything listed in the brochures is there, most rooms are sea view and have private balconies and terraces which mroe then makes up for it.

General Comments

Rodney Bay, Rex St Lucian/Papillon - I visited here during the peak (British) season, and was pleasantly suprised to find it full but not cramped, never a struggle to find things to do on this the most beautiful and scenic of all Caribbean Islands, put up against some of the other hotels the Rex St Lucian won't be the top, but then with the might of the sublime Sandals, Hilton and the world's most romantic hotel (apparently!) overlookign the famous Pitons its hardly suprising, still the Rex St Lucian packs a powerful punch and I'd definitely return here just for the beach which some of the other luxury 5* hotels here lack.
