General Comments
Now I think we need to verify about StreamlineNet (www.Streamline.net), I'm talking about the Company in Derbyshire, UK. They are also into motor sports too. (Ok, so that's sorted!)
I have two sites hosted by Verio and Bravenet respectively. I'll not be paying Verio 'big bucks' ever again. Bravenet domains (mine's a ".biz") don't seem to do as well as 'uk' domains with search engines in Britain.
I had started playing the piano again after a 13 year lay off, and wanted to load mp3's, photos, and loads of other musical junk onto a site. Streamlinenet gave me a ".me.uk" domain and two years hosting for just over £30 incl. VaT. I've checked the uptime and it seems really good. There has only ever been one instance I had difficulty uploading my huge MP3 piano 'works of art'. I have told them that come December 2005 I'll be switching my Verio account to them. Nothing has given me reason to doubt this yet.

on 28th Aug 2005Review 3 by AWG. It is now the end of August 2005. I have had no problems with downtime. Can't comment on e-mail as I don't use the facility provided by Streamlinenet. My MP3's of my piano playing are regularly listened to, (my own works). No complaint from Streamlnt! I am even one of the 'customer recommendations' on their site. But all these negative comments are still troubling me over putting my absolutely crucial business site in their hands come December. The cost would only be a tiny fraction of Verio's BUT! I've never known a business to have so many comments on a review/consumer site. Isn't about time The Review Centre contacted Streamlinenet and offered them some sort of reply? If they declined to reply to The Review Centre then surely this would tell us all something. I'm still "on their side" but am uneasy.

Now another commentator has suggested here that Streamlinenet will shut down your account if you have mp3's on it. I subsequently e-mailed them from a different address to that they have on file on me, I used the fictitious name of Neil and told them I was a violin player wanting to put his own compositions onto the web, but I had read conflicting reports about them in The Review Centre. They replied instantly (on a Sunday I think it was) that they "supported" this. I think we need to be aware of Copyright here. If you start putting other people's works or recordings onto your site without paying a Licence fee to the PRS, ASCAP, Harry Fox Agency, GEMA or similar you are breaking the Law, and ANY webhosting company will have the right to warn you and then shut your site down. If they are your own compositions or just one or two demos. (i.e. a wedding band just letting visitors hear a couple of minutes of their playing), then no-one will bother you.
Streamlinenet appear to just be adhereing to the letter of the Law in their Terms of Business.
