Sparklehorse, Good Morning Spider - This album perfectly encompasses the sound of Sparklehorse and the genius of front man Mark Linkous' songwriting. It comes a way after "VivaDixieSubmarineTransmissionPlot" as a result of Linkous' suffering from ill health.
Back to (nearly) full health, this album is quite plainly an exercise in exorcising his demons. Ranging in style from scratchy, lo-fi rockers to jangly pop beauties to slow, dark moments of melancholy it encompasses the spectrum of Americana and takes the listener on a difficult emotional journey, which is, quite frankly, very worth it in the end.
