Good Points

You can eat great tasting food until you feel satisfied. No need to feel hungry. Majority of food is fresh produce with very little processed. You feel much better, a sense of well being.


Bad Points

Very restrictive during the first phases which can be difficult to stick to. If you can't/don't like to cook, you MAY become bored easily with the choice of foods during the first phases. Depending on the choice of foods you want to eat it can be quite expensive although the diet on a whole doesn't have to be.


General Comments

You really need to read the book thoroughly to appreciate and fully understand the Atkins Diet and to follow the diet correctly, as there are a lot of untruths and misunderstandings around. I found the Atkins Diet very good. The food I was eating was delicious and satisfying and I did not need to go hungry. If you can cook or have a good idea how to, you can experiment using the foods allowed and create the most wonderful satisfying meals. I did find the powdered shakes quite disgusting until I put the powder with the water in a glass liquidiser with lots of ice and blended it. The result was a complete transformation, a very tasty milkshake slush. As with all good diet programmes exercise plays an important part for weight loss and health. I'm fortunate to be one of those people who enjoys working out in the gym. It's just as vital to find a form of exercise or several forms of exercise you enjoy as it is to follow the diet correctly for successful weightloss and health benifits. I did not need to lose a great amount of weight to start off with, I needed to lose just over 1 stone. I lost 5 pounds in the first 2 weeks. After that I was losing about 1-2 pounds a week although on one occasion I did not lose any but glad I kept going as the following week I did lose some and continued to do so. The less weight you need to lose the slower your weight loss should be. The first few days of the diet you will probably feel quiet tired, but after this period you will start to feel better and better as time goes by.
