Good Points

Great looking phone, excellent build quality, small and light, and although the camera isn't that great, it's free. Very useful phone also if you use a PC as data cable included for Sync. Competitive price for what you get.

Bad Points

The camera attachment doesn't give that great pics, but photo messaging is a bit of a gimmick anyway, and since it's free, you can't really lose. The colour screen is 256 colours, so for colour enthusiasts maybe not ideal, but it's more than adequate if you just want a nice colour phone. Manual a little confusing.

General Comments

I wanted a relatively cheap mobile with everything, but wasn't too bothered about built-in cameras etc. The Siemens S55 was really the only answer, and for £70 there's very little out there (in a small design) that will beat it (camera, GPRS, bluetooth, colour, good battery). I have never had a Siemens before, and I am pleasantly impressed, and most people I know who have had a Siemens mobile before have said how good they were. Build quality puts Nokia to shame (but that's not hard!) and all round it's just a nice phone. It does everything you could possibly want and, as long you're not too fussed about picture messaging, it's worth considering.

Hi, I'm waiting anxiously for this phone to arrive in this part of the world and also for someone to 'expertly' review it at review-centre so that i can get a better idea about it... compare it to the 6610 and choose between the two. raihak

I agree with Bill's review on the Siemens S55 having bought this model a few days ago. It's very user friendly and good value for money. I was a bit more impressed with the camera though. You might be disappointed with the photos if you view them on the phone display alone (pretty poor quality). However if you send the pics to a PC or to a phone with a superior display screen (e.g.Nokia) the photos are really good quality. The built in flash makes indoor pics fairly good too. Only problem is that you can't store many photos.

Very helpful. I can't wait to get one. I have the T68i and i really wont one of these. 256 colour screen is still awesome. You can have everything. And i love the look.

Raihak, in response to your request. Was attempting to choose between 6610 and S55 myself. Found this review very helpful: http://216.239.39.120/translate_c?hl=en&u=http://www.xonio.com/features/feature_8949469.html Hope that gives you a little more insight. p.s. I chose the S55, and know I made the right decision! ;)

I've always used Siemens because you get so much more than you pay for. I'm getting the S55 not because it comes free with a camera but because it supports Colour, Java, Bluetooth, hands free talking and it's triple band! Well done Siemens mobile, you have provided the market with a great looking phone at a great looking price, one question though? How do you do that? I've heard rumours that S55 design was closely related to the Audi TT, if so I can see why...well done! 10/10

I'd love to know where you got it from for £70!!

  • Jez. on 11th Feb 2003

    Rach, I got mine for £50 !!

  • Rach. on 12th Feb 2003

£50 is even better! Let me guess - it was an upgrade?!

I want to live i UK! In Denmark, wheres its actually made (ironic), the minimum retail price is approx. 260£! How about that. :-)

  • J Man. on 16th Feb 2003

The £50 and £70 prices were probably part of a deal when you get it with a contract, but you likely either got it pay and go or sim free.

Does anyone know where or for how much I could get this phone on Pay as You Go?
