Littleneeta's review of Santa Susanna, Royal Sun Hotel

“We originally booked for the Aparthotel Santa Susanna...”

Good Points
Only 2 good points about this hotel, it is next to the beach and some of the reception staff had a smile for you.

Bad Points
The first days food was edible until the next day we realised that what was served was yesterdays food disguised in breadcrumbs or sauce. The All Inclusive part consisted of snacks being left in the dining room when the designated restaurant times were closed. This food was either cold and on occasions there was leftover food from the night before. The food does not cater for children at all!!! On our last day they surpassed my expectations at breakfast, with the usual bacon and rubber eggs (TWO TRAYS FULL AS NOBODY ATE THEM) the tray of sausages where decorated around the edge with boiled potatoes, cauliflower, brocolli and sprouts!!!! This Hotel is nowhere near 4 Stars and if this was rated today would lucky to get 1 Star.

General Comments
We originally booked for the Aparthotel Santa Susanna and on arriving we found that this was closed and had been for some time. We were greeted by a notice at the hotel to go to the Royal Sun (Although this is still available to book!!) We booked a 1 bedroom apartment as there were 3 adults and 1 child and I did want the flexibility of making a coffee or a snack for my child. What we got was a twin room with 4 beds squashed in. When we complained and asked to be split into 2 rooms we were told that the hotel was fully booked but as the hotel bar was empty at night and the pool area was not full during the day we found this hard to believe. We were offered another H Top Hotel in Pinada but as we had only booked a 5 day stay it would have reduced our holiday even more! We requested a kettle, also not possible. Rooms were described as elegantly decorated, we found them sparse. There was no piped music and the air conditioning did not work. The outside beach bar was nice and served snacks but if you were All Inclusive the waiters would not serve you with your drinks at the table, you had to form a queue at the bar and snacks had to be paid for. I would not recommend this hotel at all although the resort of Santa Susanna was nice and a good base to explore Costa Brava as the express train to Barcelona ran every half hour outside our balcony!!
