Good Points

Good screen.
Great video capability.
Dual card format.
Easy to use, very point and shoot.

Bad Points

Poor optical zoom.
Slightly plastic build.
Dreadful shutter lag.
Supplied bag doesn't take the camera with the handle fitted.

General Comments

I think the Fuji Finepix M603 is a camera that does certain things very well and it's up to you to decide if those things are what you are seeking. In my case they were. I'm not interested in a viewfinder so the oversized screen that this has instead is great.

I wanted video quality film capability and at 30 frames per second this gives it along with up to large scale storage using the IBM Microdrive...though the media cards are enough for most things to be honest.

The dual card format is a good idea, just having the option gives you that little extra control.

It does have a little more plastic in the body than I'd like, but isn't totally flimsy.... except the media card port cover which is pretty poor, fortunately you don't need to access it all that often which is a good job. Should have done better Fuji... there's no excuse.

The shutter lag is bad, I know digitals are prone to this but I mean it's REALLY bad on this camera. Posed shots only and forget any action unless you use the sequence mode or film it as a clip.

The camera comes with a nifty screen cover and a screw on handle to aid stability....I can't say you really need it but it's a good idea. The case though won't fit the camera with it attached......DOH! Shouldn't have to buy a bag for a new camera Fuji.

A better than 2X zoom would have been nice.

In short, the bad points are just down to bad design and Fuji should know better....but if like me those bad points don't get in the way of what you want the camera for then what it does do it does really well.

I wanted mine as a small, easy to carry camera with high quality film clip capability for fairly close subjects that were mainly indoors. And it copes well with what I ask of it...just don't ask much more.
