Good Points

Very affordable, sharp looking -- sounds okay. BUT... it might get your child wanting to learn to play, but once they are playing they'll want a trumpet that performs better. My son finds his Amati very frustrating and he is not alone.

Bad Points

Valves do not work right -- keys stick -- the return in slow -- the lacquer chips very easily.

General Comments

The Amati Bb Trumpets with lacquer tend to "stick". My son's orginial one had its valves replaced twice within the first 6 months on our having purchased it new. And, finally, before the one year waranty expired the company replaced it with a new one. This one has the same problems at the orginal. This also happened with his friend's trumpet -- and this family purchased a different trumpet the following year -- they are stuck with Amati. It looks really sharp -- sounds pretty good -- but there is something defective with the keys -- they stick BIG TIME. Cleaning, maintaining, not maintaining, replacing -- nothing seems to fix it. I was told that I could have the valves "replated" and at that point the trumpet was only a few months old.
