Good Points

Eight days at sea. Comfortable ship. Excellent food and dining companions. Concierge Class excellent. Good mix of ports visited. Acapella singing group.

Bad Points

Overhang above our balcony cabin kept out the sun. Lunch buffet got a bit repetitive and pasta was swimming in oil. Bars a bit antiseptic mainly due to not many customers.

General Comments

Our first time with Celebrity but we were overall fairly impressed. Concierge Class gave us a few extras which was nice but the cabin was no bigger than any other normal balcony room. Room service (especially breakfast) was excellent. Many lines now charge extra for room service. You can have all your meals in your room if you are that sad. Ports of call were, Barcelona, Gibralter, Funchal then 5 days at sea getting warmer every day until we hit St Maartens and then St Thomas before ending up at Ft Lauderdale. Very laid back and ship was not at all crowded in fact sometimes we thought the bars were closed as no other customers were around. All in all I would use Celebrity again but avoid that overhang.

    I do not expect to spend all my time in bars, so the lack of patronage would not bother me. And I perhaps could avoid the overhang that is warned about if I had any idea what his/her room number was. More to the point, it would be nice to find out what he/she enjoyed or did not enjoy about the port visits, the ships entertainment etc. I cannot imagine a cruise lines buffet getting repetitive; does that mean they got the same thing every day? It also would have been more helpful to get discrete measurements; the weather was warmer than what? Was it warm enough to swim? What sort of clothing will we need?

    The overhang was an extension of the Resort Deck. We were in cabin 9038 on Sky which although it had a good sized triangular balcony with a good view aft, it was right under the overhang, and you could not help but be aware of it. I feel that the brochure should give a warning about its presence. If you go down a deck the overhang would be less obvious.

    The ports of call were Barcelona, where we spent a couple of days. A very busy city with lots to see night and day. The temperature in November was mid 60's, so it was very pleasant. Gibraltar was OK. I was disappointed at the few shops available, as it is supposed to be a tax free port. The Rock and the apes were cool however. Madeira was amazing, and it is one of our favourite islands. It's never cold, but around 65F. We went up the funicular and came down on one of the wooden sleds, which was a great experience! As we crossed the Atlantic it gradually got warmer until the Caribbean islands, when it was in the 80's. St Martens is excellent for shopping, and it's a very colourful place. St Thomas is even better for shopping, but we took a trip to St Johns and really enjoyed the laid back lifestyle there.

    The buffet on-board offered a similar set of choices each day. Depending on your taste it did get a bit boring. However, as stated, the room service was excellent, and it was another alternative.

    At the end of the day we really enjoyed the cruise and the ship. It had a good balance of entertainment with it being available day and night. We intend to do a reverse Transatlantic one year.
